Safavieh has the unique ability to produce each rug in the region best-suited to each particular design. Their artisans are scattered far and wide, they are all equally talented. But each country, city and village has its own time-honored techniques and special look – qualities incorporated into the designs. Power loomed rugs do not use backing material on the underside of the rug. A thin coat of latex is applied to the underside of the rug to secure the yarns firmly in place. This latex coat is virtually invisible and is not considered backing material. Helpful Tip: On area rugs with no backing the design pattern is often visible on the underside of the rug.
