Whether you want to create a home bar, add a modern accent to an open plan kitchen or save space in a busy thoroughfare, the bar stool has quickly emerged as the go-to seating solution for the modern home.

Bar stools fit generally fall into three categories: short, counter height, bar height. However, there is no industry standard for measuring the height of a stool. It’s always best to consult individual product descriptions before you hit the checkout.
It is also important to consider where the stools will be placed. If they are for a bar or counter, measure the distance from the floor to the lip. No matter what height you are seeking, it's ideal to keep about 10” of maneuvering space between the bar stool and the counter or table. If your bar top or table top is thick, consider opting for a bar stool that is lower on the height spectrum to help ensure adequate room for your guests' legs.
